Stuff the Bus with School Supplies for Local Youth This August in Downtown Brampton
The Downtown Brampton BIA and United Way of Greater Toronto are proud to partner for a special Back-to-School Backpack Drive on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 8 AM to 1 PM during the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market.
Taking place on Main Street North, right beside the BIA tent, a school bus will be on-site for community members to fill up with their generous donations. All donated items will be collected and packed by United Way Greater Toronto and distributed to youth supported by Our Place Peel and REST Centres, helping ensure every child starts the school year prepared and confident.
“Back-to-school should be an exciting time for every student, but the reality is many families face barriers accessing the supplies their children need,” said Louroz Mercader, Executive Director of the Downtown Brampton BIA. “We’re proud to work with United Way to support young people in our community through this fun and meaningful initiative.”
Community members are encouraged to donate items such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, binders, lunch bags, and more. And to add some extra cheer, Santa will be making a surprise summer appearance, delighting children and thanking generous donors.
“We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and that starts with having the right tools in the classroom,” said Jen Davis, Senior Manager, Donor Experience from United Way Greater Toronto. “This drive is a great way for people to come together and show what community care looks like in action.”
Let’s come together and help make this school year brighter for Brampton’s youth!
