Congratulations to all artists at the 3rd Annual Live Art Competition
Brampton…On Saturday August 25, 2018, Downtown Brampton was host to the third annual Live Art Competition whereby artists once again competed in painting our unique downtown Brampton on canvas and/or paper by many talented artists from all over Ontario.
Live Art Competition was brought to the downtown community by John Cutruzzola of the Inzola Group and Grettel Comas of Baci Gifts & Michaels Photography, both of whom are very passionate in the local Brampton arts and cultural community.
In Brampton, John’s dedication to the implementation of important structural elements such as Brampton City Hall, The Art Gallery of Peel, The Rose Theatre are significant projects to the developments of the cultural aspects of his community.
In recognition of his dedication to his community and his pursuit of artistic and cultural progress, John has been recognized with multiple awards. Among them, Les Carbot Award from the Canadian Art Council, the 2004 Art Person of the Year, the 1993 Business Person of the Year and the 2007 Citizen of the Year.
Grettel Comas, store manager at M.Michael’s Photography and Baci Gifts. Her family business has been located in the historic Downtown-Brampton for almost 25 years with an classical/contemporary style of Photography. While Baci Gifts is proud to be one of the cuties gift boutiques in town. Grettel, is also chair of Events & Promotions of Downtown Brampton BIA and a very active and devoted member in the downtown community.
Grettel, co-founder of Live Art Competition presented the idea to her colleagues back in 2016 and has brought together many key arts and cultural organizations for this excited community event. This year Live Art Competition showcase the talented artists not only from Brampton; also from Cambridge, Oakville, Markham, Toronto, Schomberg, Milton, Georgetown and Caledon.
The Live Art Competition committee would like to formally thank the number of local businesses, organizations and volunteers that were part of the 2018 greatest event. Including: Algoma University, Baci Gifts, Beaux-Arts Brampton, CCV Insurance, D.K. Jewellery, Your Digital Advantage, Downtown Brampton BIA, PAMA, Razor Creative, The Arts of John Cutruzzola and The City of Brampton.
Early in the morning, Downtown Brampton opened with Live Art Competition artists registrations in Daily Times Square and then artists headed out to their choice of a downtown location to paint on canvas/paper. Painting took place from 10am to 1pm., and finished pieces were submitted back to the Live Art Competition organizers for judging.
The Live Art Competition judges included Reagan Hayward of Beaux-Arts Brampton and Karen Darling, local Brampton artist. Artists and Live Art Competition attendees enjoyed the Downtown Brampton Farmers’ Market in the morning, and headed back to Daily Times Square and the Conservatory for the Awards Ceremony at 4 p.m.
Every year, the Live Art Competition judges have been given the task to evaluate all of the beautiful art submitted.
